Rita Hess, local full-time professional writer and editor, will present a free workshop titled “Taking Your Manuscript from Trash to Treasure” in the Great Plains Room at the Enid Public Library on Saturday, September 19, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Published and unpublished writers in all genres are encouraged to attend as she shares what she looks for when editing manuscripts.
Hess began writing professionally 10 years ago after attending a similar workshop at the library and feels the upcoming presentation brings her career full circle. “That workshop dramatically altered the course of my life,” she says, “and this is my way of giving back.”
After several years working freelance and a three-year stint as a technical writer, Hess returned to freelance status in 2006. Since then, she has edited 10 full-length novels for a Chicago-based client in addition to writing and editing for the U.S. Air Force, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Department of the Interior, Veterans Affairs, and other federal government agencies.
For more information about the workshop, please contact the Public Library of Enid & Garfield County at 234-6313, or visit us online: www.enid.org/library.
